One of the world’s best-known steakhouses has officially made its Charlotte debut, and it’s bringing with it a whole lot of flavor.

Yesterday, Fogo de Chão, the globally recognized Brazilian restaurant with roots dating back nearly 50 years, opened its doors in Uptown. Located at 200 S. Tryon Street, Suite 130, the new restaurant marks the brand’s first location in North Carolina.

The Charlotte team will be led by General Manager Camilo Lopera, who began his career with Fogo in 2016 and most recently served as General Manager of the brand’s Oak Brook, Illinois, restaurant.

Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão, expressed his excitement about the opening.

“We’re thrilled to open our first North Carolina restaurant with our new location in Charlotte,” he said. “It’s exciting to bring our immersive dining experience to Charlotte’s diverse and growing population. We look forward to welcoming both new guests and loyal Fogo Fans to discover the Culinary Art of Churrasco in a space that honors the rich traditions of Southern Brazil.”

And what exactly is the Culinary Art of Churrasco, you ask? It’s the fabulous way Fogo prepares its meats, which are expertly seasoned and fire-roasted to bring out the bold flavors the restaurant has become known for. Guests can experience Churrasco in two ways.

First up is the Full Churrasco Experience, Fogo’s signature prix-fixe offering featuring premium and classic cuts served alongside the fresh and seasonal Market Table and Feijoada Bar, plus a selection of authentic Brazilian side dishes.

For those looking to take things up a notch, there’s the Indulgent Churrasco Experience. It includes everything offered with the Full Churrasco Experience, plus a choice of enhancement, including a Butter-Bathed™ Lobster Tail, Black Truffle Butter, All Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, or Roasted Bone Marrow, followed by a decadent dessert.

Beyond Churrasco, guests can pull up a seat at Bar Fogo, where all-day offerings start at $6 and include handcrafted cocktails, premium South American wines, and a selection of shareable dishes, including the $10 Picanha Burger.

Fogo is also making its Charlotte debut with a commitment to giving back. As part of its introduction to the community, the restaurant will donate 10% of its first week of sales to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, whose mission to help eliminate hunger extends across 14 counties in North Carolina and 10 counties in South Carolina.

Good food and giving back. Not a bad way to say hello to Charlotte.
