Welcome to another thrilling edition of Front Row Seat, your exclusive gateway to the remarkable individuals who add regal charm to the Queen City. In this edition, we're privileged to sit down with none other than Felipe Edmiston, the visionary behind Felipe Edmiston Interiors.

If the name Felipe Edmiston rings a bell, it might be because of his involvement in Dancing with the Stars of Charlotte, which he co-founded and currently serves as its director of show. However, today we're delving deeper into his expertise beyond the ballroom, exploring how his design firm, Felipe Edmiston Interiors, illuminates homes throughout the Queen City and its surrounding areas.

Could you share a bit about your journey transitioning from ballroom dancer to interior designer? Which profession would you say has been the most challenging to navigate?

My journey from ballroom dancer to interior designer has been incredibly fulfilling. While dancing allowed me to express myself physically, transitioning to interior design has enabled me to channel my creativity in a different way. Both professions require attention to detail, discipline, and a strong sense of aesthetics, which has made the transition smoother than expected. Each profession presents its own set of challenges. As a ballroom dancer, the physical demands and competition were significant hurdles to overcome. In contrast, as an interior designer, managing client expectations and staying ahead of design trends can be equally challenging. However, my passion for design and determination to succeed have helped me navigate these challenges with confidence.

Professionally speaking, I believe that during job interviews, both parties are assessing each other to determine if there's a mutual fit. Would you say the same applies as an interior designer? If so, what qualities do you look for in a client?

Absolutely, just like in dance, both the client and I assess each other during consultations to ensure a mutual fit. I look for qualities such as openness to new ideas, clear communication, and a shared vision for the project. Building a strong rapport with clients from the outset is essential for a successful collaboration.

How would you describe your design philosophy, and what are some key elements or features that you frequently integrate into your designs to enhance the space?

My design philosophy centers around creating spaces that are not only visually stunning but also functional and reflective of my clients' personalities. Key elements in my designs include attention to lighting, color harmony, texture, and incorporating unique elements that evoke emotion and connection.

When it comes to selecting high-end materials, furnishings, and finishes that match the client's aesthetic and budget, how do you approach it? Do you have any tips for readers who want to add a touch of luxury to their living spaces on a tight budget?

When it comes to selecting high-end materials within a budget, I prioritize quality over quantity. I believe in investing in statement pieces that elevate the space while being mindful of cost-effective alternatives for other elements. Strategic sourcing and leveraging my network of suppliers allow me to achieve luxurious aesthetics without exceeding my clients' budgets.

Among the numerous projects you've completed since founding Felipe Edmiston Interiors, is there one that stands out to you as particularly rewarding?

Among the numerous projects I've completed, there are a few that stand out as particularly rewarding. One of the most memorable projects for me was a townhouse in Myers Park that I had the opportunity to design from the initial stages. It was one of my early major projects, and being involved in every aspect, from creating the floor plans to selecting the ideal lighting spots, switches, colors, wallpapers, and furnishings, was immensely rewarding. This project provided invaluable hands-on experience in not only home construction but also the process of building a home from the ground up.

For readers interested in enlisting Felipe Edmiston Interiors to transform their space, what is the most effective way to initiate contact with you and your team for a consultation?
