A New Era of Front Row Charlotte
In February 2023, I officially launched Front Row Charlotte, promising readers a behind-the-scenes look at the Queen City's most exclusive events. At the time, I had only been in Charlotte for a little over two years, but I had quickly become aware that the city was missing a voice when it came to its social scene. Sure, there were legacy media brands covering events in the city, or at least sending photographers, but overall there was no presence, no person telling you why you should come out or why you should even care.
You see, growing up, I was obsessed with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and the soirées that came with it. I can recall being a kid flipping through the pages of People magazine in the waiting room before a dentist appointment to see photos from the latest events or rushing home after playing with friends to watch Live from the Red Carpet on E! and see what the biggest stars were wearing to the award shows.
That same excitement followed me through my teenage years and into early adulthood as someone living just outside of Atlanta, a place known to many as the Black Hollywood. Atlanta was filled with some of the same fabulous events Hollywood offered, and there were people showing exactly why it had earned that moniker through publications that showcased the celebrities of the South and what they were up to.
Looking back on that time in my life, I don't think it was the celebrities themselves that I was infatuated with. It was what the journalists covering them represented: people who loved their city and their industry and wanted to showcase the very best of both. I think it's the same reason I'm obsessed with local news and watch it like it's primetime television. And it's the same reason I clicked the button that made the Front Row Charlotte website go live that day.
For most of its existence, I've operated Front Row Charlotte simply as a passion project. I'd post articles a few times a year and attend events sporadically whenever I felt that passion reignited. While that approach allowed the brand to grow slowly and steadily, I knew deep down it was ultimately preventing it from reaching its full potential and fulfilling the purpose for which it was created: to be the voice the city needed.
Which brings us to this moment. Today. The reason you're reading this.
A new era of Front Row Charlotte is upon us, accompanied by a slight refresh of the website. Charlotte still needs a diverse voice in its social scene, someone to tell you about the people, places, and events redefining what it means to live, work, and celebrate in the Queen City. I want to be that person and continue the work I set out to do when Front Row Charlotte first launched.
So what can you expect moving forward?
You can expect everything that brought you to Front Row Charlotte in the first place, just more frequently and with greater intention. Expect more stories that matter, more interviews with the tastemakers shaping this city, and more coverage of the events driving conversations across the Queen City..
In addition, I want to partner with the brands and organizations you care about in this new era, so feel free to send them my way.
Here's to the new era of Front Row Charlotte.
Your front-row seat awaits.
