An Automotive-Themed Country Club Is Being Planned Just Outside Charlotte

Golf courses have long been the centerpiece of country clubs, but a proposed development just outside Charlotte is betting that luxury automobiles can create the same sense of community.

Known as Race City Motorpark & Social Club, the proposed development is planned for the former Mooresville Dragway and aims to reimagine what a modern country club can look like. Rather than fairways and tennis courts, the concept centers around high-performance driving experiences, luxury amenities, fine dining, wellness, and a community of automotive enthusiasts.

At the center of the development would be a 4-mile championship road course where members could take part in private track days, driving experiences, and exclusive automotive events.

But the vision extends well beyond the track.

Plans call for an upscale clubhouse overlooking the circuit, complete with chef-driven dining, a private members' lounge, fitness and wellness facilities, an infinity pool, driving simulators, and spaces designed for both relaxation and social gatherings. Whether members are spending the day behind the wheel or simply enjoying dinner with friends, the goal is to create an experience that feels every bit as luxurious as a traditional country club.

The development would also feature climate-controlled private garages where members can securely store and showcase their vehicles, adding another amenity tailored to collectors and driving enthusiasts.

For those looking to make the experience part of everyday life, plans also include a collection of luxury villas overlooking the track. The residences would allow owners to live within the community while enjoying front-row views of driving events and access to the club's amenities.

The concept feels particularly fitting for Mooresville, a town long recognized as "Race City USA." Home to numerous NASCAR teams, racing suppliers, and automotive businesses, the area has built an international reputation as one of the country's premier motorsports destinations. Race City Motorpark & Social Club looks to build on that legacy while introducing a more lifestyle-focused experience centered around luxury hospitality and an elevated membership experience.

The project is currently moving through the approval process. If it moves forward as planned, it could introduce one of the region's most distinctive membership experiences, one where the clubhouse overlooks a racetrack instead of the 18th green.

Although construction has yet to begin, Race City Motorpark & Social Club is already accepting registrations for its limited pre-sale program. Those who register their interest will receive priority access to villa and garage selections, exclusive founding member pricing, invitations to private preview events, and a complimentary track day once the club opens.
