From the Front Row: The Ballantyne's Casa Obsidiana Launch Party

Tequila, caviar, and a little friendly competition set the tone at The Ballantyne on September 18th as guests gathered at Dunbar Social by Topgolf Swing Suite for the Casa Obsidiana Launch Party.
The evening celebrated the debut of The Ballantyne Private Select Reposado, a one-of-a-kind tequila barrel created exclusively for the hotel and finished in French oak wine barrels. Its arrival made Dunbar Social the only destination globally to offer this particular Private Select Reposado barrel and the only location in North Carolina currently serving Casa Obsidiana cocktails made with Casa Obsidiana Blanco.
Casa Obsidiana Owner and Co-Founder Roberto Beckmann Gonzalez traveled from Jalisco, Mexico, for the occasion and led guests through an intimate tasting of the collection. Produced at the Tierra de Agaves distillery near the Tequila Volcano, Casa Obsidiana combines the Beckmann Gonzalez family’s generations of tequila-making expertise with the Boisset family’s experience in wine and barrel finishing. The Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo tequilas are made with 100% Blue Weber agave and presented in ceramic bottles handcrafted by Mexican artisans.
Guests enjoyed a chef-curated tasting menu paired with the Casa Obsidiana collection, followed by a caviar and Champagne toast. The experience extended beyond the food and drinks with interactive games, including a “Beat the Founder” longest-drive competition in the Topgolf Swing Suite. Competitors put their swings to the test against Beckmann Gonzalez for a chance to take home prizes such as customized bottles of Casa Obsidiana tequila.
And for those who didn’t make the launch party, there’s still a chance to get a taste. The Ballantyne Private Select Reposado and Casa Obsidiana cocktails are now being served at Dunbar Social by Topgolf Swing Suite.
